First Week Pictures!

Wonderful First Week!

Congratulations to all our Zilker Kindergarteners! What a wonderful first week! There is so much to learn and experience and the kids are adjusting great to the new routines and procedures!
Today was our busiest day yet! We met with our Buddy Class - Mrs. Thompson's 5th grade - and they helped us make the "Buddy Bracelets" that your child wore home. Our buddies were very helpful and kind and help to model appropriate "Big Kid" behavior for our newest Zilker students. After meeting with our buddies, our class attended the first school-wide assembly of the year. They were entertained by 5th grade student, guitarist and singer - Grace. The kids were very patient and attentive during the assembly and did a nice job staying with our class in the busy hallway!
I hope to post pictures in the coming days, so check back often!
A few reminders:
-Thursday folders need to be sent back to school by Monday.
-Students need to wear school appropriate shoes every day (especially P.E. days!)
-Please send a labeled ziploc bag with a change of clothes in case of accidents.

Welcome to Kindergarten!!!

Welcome to Mr. Garland's Kindergarten! I am so excited to begin our new school year! If you did not have a chance to visit with me at Meet the Teacher, please introduce yourself briefly on the first day of school. I have several papers for parents to fill out and I will be happy to send them home in our weekly Thursday Folders. Please take the time to read through this material and send back any papers that require your signature. You will find especially helpful the list of Frequently Asked KIndergarten Questions, but feel free to call (841-0741) or email me (matthew.garland@austinisd.org) with any concerns not addressed in the packet.

Remember that first day jitters soon disappear once the adults have gone and allowed their little ones to stand on their own. A quick "goodbye" and no looking back will inspire your child with the confidence they need to make their first steps into the magical world of learning!
